Amazing for families

We had such a fun day at the Palatinus Strand Baths! The wave pool was the kids' favorite, they couldn’t get enough of it. My husband and I work a lot during the week, so we loved the thermal pools. They were so relaxing, just what we needed after a long week. It was also pretty cool that the whole bath complex is surrounded by trees, we’ve never been to a similar place. Everything was clean, safe, and family-friendly. We’ll definitely be back when we visit Budapest again!

Best spot for relaxation

I absolutely loved visiting the Palatinus Strand Baths. The location on Margaret Island is stunning, being surrounded by greenery felt like I was at an oasis. I wanted to make the most out of my ticket, so I tried the thermal pools, the steam rooms, and the saunas. Everything felt clean and well-maintained, which is very important to me at a spa. I left feeling super refreshed and energized. Highly recommend!

How Palatinus popularized outdoor swimming in Budapest

When Palatinus Baths opened in 1919, it was a game-changer for outdoor swimming in Budapest. As the city’s first outdoor bath complex, it introduced a new way for people to enjoy the water in an open-air setting, surrounded by nature. The bath’s original pool was Europe’s largest at the time, which attracted crowds from all over.

Its popularity quickly grew, and by the 1930s, the complex expanded to accommodate up to 10,000 visitors, with a modern, Bauhaus-style building designed to blend seamlessly with its lush surroundings. This transformation helped establish Palatinus as a landmark in Budapest, turning outdoor swimming into a beloved local tradition.

Today, Palatinus Strand Baths' legacy continues, drawing both locals and tourists who enjoy its mix of relaxation and history.
